After the blue skies on Saturday (which did at least allow very kind volunteers to put up the Village marquee, and tea and bar tents), the Sunday morning was a bit of an emotional rollercoaster with torrential rain for several hours.
Miraculously the rain stopped at 1 o’clock and held off all afternoon, allowing the Show to take place and people to stay dry. I’m told dogs don’t mind one way or the other!
Thank you to all who came; there was a marvellous array of dogs and handlers in the parade ring brilliantly MC’ed as usual by Ed Boddington (aka Bod), and Tim Hutchinson and Rosemary Ryder had a hard job judging who should get the beautiful Larkmead-donated rosettes, Trae White–designed certificates, and the generous prizes donated by so many kind companies and individuals.
Congratulations to the Best in Show, a lurcher puppy called “Trouble”, and to all those dogs and owners who took part.
A special thanks to Liz Townsend without whom the Show could not have happened.
The Dog Show raised £812 – which included generous donations – and this sum will go towards our fundraising for new equipment in the Playpark. The happy news is that we have raised enough to go ahead and place an order for the Play Fort with its double slide and climbing wall, so thank you for being a part of that effort!
Our next challenge is to replace the Play trail…
